This week we have stayed close to home. Although traveling on the subway for an hour still has you in the great city of Tokyo. It takes time to get out of this city! Our Pday was spent exploring another of Tokyo's many lovely parks. The weather is mild enough that the grounds are still green and many plants are still blooming.

Halloween is a big deal in Japan although the children do not trick-or-treat. Decorations are everywhere and dressing in costume is done by children and adults alike. The entire week before there are parades and festivities in each of the "Ku"s or districts. Also families hold parties for the children and treats are plentiful. When we say "treats" it could be anything from dried squid to apple gummy bears. Traditionally the Japanese are not sugar consumers like Americans, but they love ice cream and hamburgers!
